The Tyrannosauus rex (also just called the Tyrannosaurus, or T-Rex) is a species of dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period and is one of the most famous and easily recognized species. Although they're extinct, they are one of various animals an animagus can turn into, as well as being a form of the Patronus Charm.

Etymology

The name Tyrannosaurus rex means "king of the tyrant lizards": "tyranno" means tyrant in Greek; "saurus" means lizard in Greek, and "rex" means "king" in Latin.
