The Triceratops is a species of dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period and is well known for its three horns and frill on its head. Although they're extinct, they are one of various animals an animagus can turn into, as well as being a form of the Patronus Charm.

The name Triceratops means "three-horned face": "trikeratos" means three-horned in Greek and "ōps" means face in Latin.
