Ballad of Chim-el Adabal, also known as the Red Diamond Ballad, is a traditional Cyrodilic folklore song dating back to the late First Era. The version of the song found in Nu-Cyrod had a few differences when compared to the version sung in Tamriel. Despite being a traditional Imperial song, the events as spoken in the lyrics are based on the Aldmer creation myth, as opposed to the Imperial version.

The song was translated into English by Celestina Warbeck as part of a project associated with the Ministerial Pocket Guide to Nu-Cyrod.

Lyrics

In Cyrodilic

Quan Aka meldete Lorkhan,
De quinate curid au;
De varete bus Tamriel,
Ta curid rautai re.

Bal Caman, Bal Caman,
Curid ta alma av mana;
Bal Caman, Bal Caman,
Karan miai va ede.

Hevlale cyrod varete sanguis longe,
Gutta Cyrod racuete;
Ta sicut sagitta uter anco,
Intus twyll Ayleid.

Magicka mocaete sanguis Lorkhan,
Va miscul caman ta fort;
Ta Mere Ferus limaete va,
Chim-el Adabal.

Bal Caman, Bal Caman,
Curid ta alma av mana;
Bal Caman, Bal Caman,
Karan miai va ede.

Quan mere vanwa Nirn uter mana,
Aka gannete bal;
Uter Al-Esh ad signa av,
Sua juris ver trona.

Bal Caman, Bal Caman,
Curid ta alma av mana;
Bal Caman, Bal Caman,
Karan miai va ede.

In English

When Akatosh killed Lorkhan,
he cleaved his heart right out.
He threw it across Tamriel,
and the heart was heard to shout.

Red Diamond, Red Diamond,
the heart and soul of men.
Red Diamond, Red Diamond,
protect us until the end.

The laughing heart sprayed blood afar,
a drop on Cyrod fell.
And like an arrow to its mark
Inside an Ayleid well.

Magicka joined the Lorkhan blood,
into crystal red and strong.
And Wild Elves polished it into,
Chim-el Adabal.

Red Diamond, Red Diamond,
the heart and soul of men.
Red Diamond, Red Diamond,
protect us until the end.

When elves lost Nirn to men,
Akatosh gave the stone
To Al-Esh in sign of,
her right to have the throne.

Red Diamond, Red Diamond,
the heart and soul of men.
Red Diamond, Red Diamond,
protect us until the end.
