The Caladrius is a species of magical bird that lives in Italy.

Description[]

The Caladrius has pure white feathers and large wings. It has a long neck and a crest of white feathers on its head. It has an orange beak and talons. It has striking blue eyes and a v-shaped tail.

Abilities[]

The Caladrius is able to tell when a sick person is going to die. If a Caladrius is put before a person and looks straight at him or her, then the person will live. However, if the Caladrius is put before a person and looks away from him or her, then the person will surely die soon. After performing this action, a Caladrius is often seen flying to the sun. This led to the belief that, if the Caladrius predicted that the person was going to live, that it took the disease inside of it and flew to the sun to burn it out. This is why the Caladrius is kept in the homes of many famous wizarding celebrities.

History[]

A Caladrius was the Italian mascot for the 2000 Quiddich World Cup. It was also used in the opening ceremony to show how, just like the Caladrius' predictions, any team could perform amazingly or terribly in the Cup. However, just like the Caladrius flying to the sun, they could reach new heights together.

Uses[]

The feathers of a Caladrius can be used in wand cores. Wands made by the famed Italian wizard Dagoberto Anzivino exclusively have Caladrius feather cores. Wands with Caladrius feather cores tend to chose witches or wizards who are great at healing and taking care of others. It is said that many who own a Caladrius tail feather wand will go into the medical profession later in life.

Trivia[]

  • Hunting a Caladrius is illegal, as they are peaceful and extremely important to wizarding health.
  • The Caladrius is rated XX by the Ministry of Magic due to its calm and peaceful demeanor.
