Biography[]

Early life (1960-1971)[]

Ammon Zelph Lightarrow was born on 10 January, 1960 to Cheyenne half-bloods Antion Lightarrow & Aiyana Lightarrow (nee Feathered Moon). When Ammon was three years old, his mother Aiyana died of cancer, leaving him to be raised by his father. Antion taught his son about the use of charms, telling him that he should do everything he could to protect his heritage while at the same time keep his wizard powers a secret from the rest of his community.

School years at Ilvermorny (1971-1978)[]

In 1971, Lane started attending Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft & Wizardry & was sorted into Wampus. During his years in Ilvermorny, Lane befriended Pukwudgie Lane Oliver, & the two of them used to cause all sorts of mischief. During one Potions Class, Ammon & Lane poured an exploding potion in a cauldron when the Professor wasn't looking; this caused the cauldron to explode, resulting in the classroom being flooded.

When Ammon was twelve years old, he & Lane were caught spying on the girls' locker room during a game of Quodpot. As a result, both Ammon & Lane were suspended from Ilvermorny & spent nine weeks in Geburah Juvenile Detention. During their stay at Geburah, the two boys were confined to Black Quill writing, in which both Ammon & Lane received painful scars on the back of their hands while writing "I must behave myself." After their release from Geburah & upon their return to Ilvermorny, Ammon & Lane became more mature & responsible.

During his third year at Ilvermorny, Ammon learned about the Animagus Transfiguration, & he took personal training until he succeeded to become an Animagus himself, with the ability to become a hawk.

When they were fifteen, Lane received grievous news of his father's death. To help his friend during his time of grief, Ammon took Lane with him on many adventures during their leisure time. Using a magical map that Ammon created, the two traveled across the world, even meeting wizards of different countries.

Ammon graduated from Ilvermorny in 1978 with a degree in Charms & Transfiguration.

Etymology[]

Ammon is derived from the Greek form of the Egyptian Yamanu, Amon, meaning "the hidden one". "Ammon" is also a name mentioned frequently in the Bible & the Book of Mormon.

Zelph is probably a masculine variation of the Hebrew name Zelpha, meaning "frail". Zelph is a figure of interest in Mormon studies, described by Joseph Smith as a Lamanite warrior-chieftain who had white skin. Zelph is Ammon's middle name.

Lightarrow is a reference to the Arrow of Light, the highest rank in the United States Cub Scouts. Lightarrow is Ammon's surname.
