Italy vs. South Italy[]

The first match of the semi-finals was played between 4-5 July, 2010; the two Italian nations clashed in a viscous match.

The match went on for over a day with it being some of the most physically brutal Quidditch ever seen in the World Cup. Although the two Italies have a history of rivalry, nobody expected the ferocity of such level to be displayed during the match. At the end of the fifteenth hour, players were showing high levels of stress, causing sloppy play on both sides. No side gained an advantage and by the twentieth hour, the two Italies were tied at 200 points. However, the dynamic play was cut short by the ensuing brawl between the two teams' Seekers; Luciano Volpi and Michele Giovi. Southern Italian Chaser Santino Enea then knocked out Volpi, causing the Italian team to gang up on Giovi and Enea. Instead of stopping the fight, the coaches joined in, and before anybody knew it, fans on both sides began to brawl. After nearly an hour of chaos, the fighting between the two sides was brought to a standstill and both teams were disqualified from the tournament. As there was no winner for this match, the next semi-finals match: Romania vs. China, became the World Cup Finals match instead.
